Halloween hasn’t even come and gone, yet Peppermint ice cream is back in the freezer section of your favorite grocery store. Strictly a seasonal item, I’m not used to seeing it before the candy corn and other snack size treats have been snapped up. But Edy’s and Blue Bunny are ahead of the game this year and have made sure it’s sharing shelf space with Pumpkin and Egg Nog Limited Edition ice cream flavors.
Dreyer’s (the company that owns Edy’s) website shows that Peppermint Grand Light is available again this year, but for some reason the difference in fat and calorie content is almost negligible, so I won’t feel the need to scour every grocery store looking for the light version as I have in years past.
As much as I love coffee ice cream, peppermint ice cream is a hit in our entire household, and is the base for many a great holiday dessert. Spread some on a pan of brownies for brownie pie, squash between two chocolate cookies for a yummy ice cream sandwich, or simply top with an awesome hot fudge sauce, it’s all good.

i agree!
